BAKED DOUGHNUTS



Ingredients:
  • Flour 3 cups
  • Sugar half cup
  • Instant yeast 1.5 tsp
  • Salt half tsp
  • Nutmeg quarter tsp
  • Egg 1
  • Melted butter 6 tbsp
  • Butter milk 1 cup
Ingredients for topping:
  • Sugar 1 cup
  • Cinnamon powder 1 tbsp
  • Melted butter ½ cup
Method:
  • Mix together flour, sugar, yeast, salt and nutmeg. Mix in the egg and butter milk. Gradually pour in the melted butter. Knead until you have a smooth ball for about 5 mins. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour. The dough will not double in size. On a lightly flat surface roll out the dough quarter inch cut into donuts. Place the donuts on a butter paper lined baking sheets. We should have about 12 to 14 donuts and the holes. Cover and leave it to rise for 40 mins. Bake on 180 degree C for 12 to 15 mins.
Method for topping:
  • Melt half a cup of butter. Mix together fine sugar with cinnamon powder. Once the donuts are cool enough to handle, dip them in the butter and then roll in the cinnamon sugar. Serve immediately.
