Christmas Cookies


Ingredients
  • Plain flour 300 gm
  • Salt pinch
  • Baking powder 1 tsp
  • Cinnamon pinch
  • Nutmeg pinch
  • Ground pepper ½ tsp
  • Butter 100 gm
  • Orange 1
  • Dark brown sugar 100 gm
  • Eggs 2
  • Honey 4 tbsp
Ingredients For The Icing
  • Sliver balls as required
  • Golden balls as required
  • Icing sugar sieved 150 gm
  • Boiling water 1 ½ tbsp
Method
  1. Beat eggs well with the honey,combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and pepper in a bowl using a whisk until well mixed. Beat the butter and sugar well and add the orange zest.
  2. Then add the flour and start kneading into a dough adding the beaten eggs gradually until a firm dough in formed. You may not require to use all the egg mixture. 
  3. Divide dough into 2 balls or discs. keep one in the freezer while you work with the other.Preheat oven to 180 C.and prepare a baking sheet.Dust the rolling board with flour and start rolling the dough out till 5 mm thick .
  4. And then using cookie cutters cut out shapes from the dough and start setting on the baking sheet. Continue this process till all the dough is used up. bake in a preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes until firm not brown or even golden.
  5. Transfer onto a wire rack and cool completely.Make the icing by mixing the boiling water with the sifted icing sugar until you have a smooth glossy glaze. Spread the glace on the cookie and finish with silver and golden balls.
