Daalcha


Ingredients
  • Pigeon lentil 1 cup
  • Sour Spinach (finely chopped) 2 cups
  • Oil ½ cup
  • Yogurt ½ cup
  • Onion (chopped) 1
  • Tomatoes 2
  • Tomatoes (finely chopped) 3
  • Green chilies whole 4
  • Curry leaves 15 to 20
  • Gram lentil (boiled in 1 cup water) 1 handful
  • Bottle gourd (finely chopped in cubes) 250 gm
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp heaped
  • Turmeric powder ½ tsp
  • Salt 1 ½ tsp
  • Chili powder 1 ½ tsp heaped
  • Mix Whole spices 1 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves 2 tbsp
Method
  1. Boil 1 cup pigeon lentil with 2 tomatoes and 1 cup of water till tender and blend well, boil 1 hand full gram lentil in 1 cup of water till tender. Add in blended pigeon lentil with 2 cup chopped sour spinach and 250gm bottle gourd cut into cubes. 
  2. Add 2 cups of water and cook till bottle gourd tender. Heat ½ cup oil, add 1 tbsp whole spices with 1 chopped onion, fry till light golden, add 1 tsp ginger garlic paste with 1 ½ tsp salt, 1 ½ tsp chili powder, ½ tsp turmeric powder and 3 finely chopped tomatoes.
  3. Fry well till tomatoes tender, add ½ cup yogurt and fry for another 5 minutes, now add the lentils and bottle gourd mixture, cook for 10 minutes, lastly add 15 to 20 curry leaves, 2 tbsp coriander leaves and 4 green chilies.
