(South African Sandwich)
Ingredients for bread
- ½ kg plain flour
- 2 eggs
- 25 grams yeast
- 20 grams butter
- 20 grams sugar
- 10 grams salt
- Sesame seeds as required
- Water as required
Ingredients for stuffing
- 300 grams chicken
- 2 boiled potatoes
- ½ cup peas
- 1 onion
- 1 tomato
- ¼ bunch coriander
- 125 grams yogurt
- 1 tbsp red chili powder
- ½ tbsp turmeric powder
- Lettuce leaves for garnishing
- Salt to taste
Method
- For bun, add ½ kg plain flour, 25 grams yeast, 20 grams butter, 20 grams sugar, 10 grams alt and water to requirement and knead to form fine dough. Shape into a bun using your hands and brush with beaten eggs. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and bake in a pre heated oven at 200 c for 6 to 8 minutes.
- For stuffing, fry a sliced onion and sauté 300 grams chicken in it. Then add 2 boiled potatoes and ½ cup peas and cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Then add ½ tbsp turmeric powder, 1 tbsp red chili powder, a tomato and salt to taste.
- Allow simmering for 4 to 5 minutes. Now add 125 grams yogurt and ¼ bunch fresh coriander and sauté until water dries up. Stuff the prepared bun and garnish with cucumber and tomato before serving.
