(South African Sandwich)


Ingredients for bread
  • ½ kg plain flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 25 grams yeast
  • 20 grams butter
  • 20 grams sugar
  • 10 grams salt
  • Sesame seeds as required
  • Water as required
Ingredients for stuffing
  • 300 grams chicken
  • 2 boiled potatoes
  • ½ cup peas
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tomato
  • ¼ bunch coriander
  • 125 grams yogurt
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder
  • ½ tbsp turmeric powder
  • Lettuce leaves for garnishing
  • Salt to taste
Method
  1. For bun, add ½ kg plain flour, 25 grams yeast, 20 grams butter, 20 grams sugar, 10 grams alt and water to requirement and knead to form fine dough. Shape into a bun using your hands and brush with beaten eggs. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and bake in a pre heated oven at 200 c for 6 to 8 minutes.
  2. For stuffing, fry a sliced onion and sauté 300 grams chicken in it. Then add 2 boiled potatoes and ½ cup peas and cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Then add ½ tbsp turmeric powder, 1 tbsp red chili powder, a tomato and salt to taste. 
  3. Allow simmering for 4 to 5 minutes. Now add 125 grams yogurt and ¼ bunch fresh coriander and sauté until water dries up. Stuff the prepared bun and garnish with cucumber and tomato before serving.
