American Chop Suey
Ingredients
- 200 grams boneless chicken breast
- 100 grams chicken liver
- Salt n pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp soya sauce
- 1 tbsp ginger and garlic paste
- 1 tbsp white vinegar
- ½ cup tomato ketchup
- ½ cup tomato puree
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- ¼ tsp sesame oil
- ¼ tsp brown sugar
- 1 packet egg noodles
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- ½ liter oil for frying
- 1 carrot
- 1 capsicum
- 1 onion
- 1 spring onion
- 1 fried egg
- 1 cup chicken stock
- 1 tbsp corn flour
Method
- Slice 200 grams chicken breast into julienne pieces. Chop 100 grams chicken liver in small pieces. Add ½ tsp ginger and garlic paste, ½ tsp soya sauce and a pinch of salt n pepper to meat and keep aside to marinate for 10 minutes.
- Boil water in a cooking pot, add a pinch of salt and a packet of noodles and let it boil. Strain excess water from boiled noodles and brush some oil so that noodles don’t stick together. Chop a capsicum and a carrot in julienne shape, an onion in cubes and finely slice a spring onion.
- In a wok, heat 1 tbsp oil and add ½ tsp ginger garlic paste. Stir briefly then add marinated meat. Mix immediately and add ½ cup tomato puree, ½ cup tomato ketchup. 1 tsp red chili powder, 1 tbsp soya sauce, 1 tbsp white vinegar, ½ tsp brown sugar, ¼ tsp sesame oil and salt n pepper to taste.
- Stir well and let it cook for a couple of minutes. Then add chopped vegetables and a tbsp corn flour dissolved in water to thicken the gravy.
- Deep fry boiled noodles and put on platter. Pour chop suey gravy on top of fried noodles. Garnish American Chop Suey with sliced spring onion and serve.
