American Chop Suey


Ingredients
  • 200 grams boneless chicken breast
  • 100 grams chicken liver
  • Salt n pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp soya sauce
  • 1 tbsp ginger and garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • ½ cup tomato ketchup
  • ½ cup tomato puree
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • ¼ tsp sesame oil
  • ¼ tsp brown sugar
  • 1 packet egg noodles
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • ½ liter oil for frying
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 capsicum
  • 1 onion
  • 1 spring onion
  • 1 fried egg
  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • 1 tbsp corn flour
Method
  1. Slice 200 grams chicken breast into julienne pieces. Chop 100 grams chicken liver in small pieces. Add ½ tsp ginger and garlic paste, ½ tsp soya sauce and a pinch of salt n pepper to meat and keep aside to marinate for 10 minutes. 
  2. Boil water in a cooking pot, add a pinch of salt and a packet of noodles and let it boil. Strain excess water from boiled noodles and brush some oil so that noodles don’t stick together. Chop a capsicum and a carrot in julienne shape, an onion in cubes and finely slice a spring onion. 
  3. In a wok, heat 1 tbsp oil and add ½ tsp ginger garlic paste. Stir briefly then add marinated meat. Mix immediately and add ½ cup tomato puree, ½ cup tomato ketchup. 1 tsp red chili powder, 1 tbsp soya sauce, 1 tbsp white vinegar, ½ tsp brown sugar, ¼ tsp sesame oil and salt n pepper to taste. 
  4. Stir well and let it cook for a couple of minutes. Then add chopped vegetables and a tbsp corn flour dissolved in water to thicken the gravy. 
  5. Deep fry boiled noodles and put on platter. Pour chop suey gravy on top of fried noodles. Garnish American Chop Suey with sliced spring onion and serve.
