Bakhlava

Ingredients
  • 50 gm Sugar
  • 100 gm Honey
  • 100 gm White flour
  • 4 Egg
  • 250 gm Butter
  • 50 gm Almond
  • 50 gm Walnut
  • 100 gm Melon seeds
  • 100 gm Khoya
  • 150 gm Clarified butter
Directions
  1. In a mixing bowl add flour, sugar, eggs, butter and clarified butter. Knead to a smooth dough cover and leave the dough to rise for 20 minutes.
  2. With a rolling pin roll the dough into a Circular shape and spread a layer of butter. Turn the dough from one side and freeze for 30 minutes. Remove from freezer and again re freeze. Repeat this process three times.
  3. With a rolling pin shape the dough into a square sheet and sprinkle khoya, chopped almonds, chopped walnuts, honey and melon seeds.
  4. Fold from all four corners and bake at 200C.Keep on brushing the baklava with a beaten egg .Bake until it turns golden brown in color.
  5. Remove from oven and spoon honey over the bakhlawa. Allow to cool and cut in various shapes.
